drfocused:
Medical onboarding
drfocused, an HR-based company that develop digital tools for doctors, approached our team with the aim of creating a way to massively reduce administration; more specifically, time spent completing form-filling paperwork during transfers within the healthcare profession known as onboarding.
Project details
Role: UX Designer in Team of 4
Length: 3-week sprint
Key Skills: Running workshops, User Interviews, User Journeys Ideation, Prototyping
Background
The goal was to create a smooth and efficient onboarding process. To do this we created a MedPassport where doctors could systematically keep all their documents and certificates safely and reliably in one place. I carried out user interviews with both administrators and doctors to understand all their needs and the specifics involved in this complex process. Doctors currently spend 30% of their time entering data instead of treating patients. This increases costs for hospitals, takes time away from patients and contributes to burnout in doctors. Our goal was to reduce the amount of time healthcare workers spend on nonproductive ‘admin’ type tasks, to benefit us all as patients, and reduce the amount of time and money lost within healthcare.
Design process
We created a persona that embodied our main user and then created a problem statement for her. This persona and her goals, and previous frustrations were kept in mine throughout the prototyping and design phase.
We ran numerous workshops with the key stakeholders and iterated through numerous designs until we arrived at a solution that best served both the users and the stakeholders. We mapped out user journeys for the current process and then what the proposed user journey would be.
Final Outcome
Below are the fully annotated designs that were created as a conclusive handover to the clients. Here is a link to the more details Medium article completed for the project.
